 *A note from Ms. Hayward*

I've had a few questions about the materials for our musical instruments project starting Thursday, January 18.
Anything will work, really.  For example, I have set aside a few chickpea tins from dinner to bring in.  We will be putting things inside to make the noise and adding a top to cover.  Otherwise, any recyclable with a lid such as yogurt containers, plastic bottles, etc. will work.  We will be gluing decorations on.
Thank you.

Calendar - days of the week, months of the year, season, weather & a story (students also reviewed patterns and had to finish the ones I started)

Music - Ms. Hayward

Language - students reviewed the name, sound & formation of the letter Oo. Then they completed a worksheet.

Math - students had to walk around the room and count 10 frames from 11-20.

Monday, January 15, 2018

Calendar - days of the week, months of the year, season, weather & a story. Students also practiced writing the numbers 10-20 on the whiteboard

Language- students started the new letter of the week: Oo. After we came up with some words we watched a song and they added more to the list. Then they completed 2 pages in their Writing With Phonics workbook.

Then they copied the sentence, My favourite colour is........... from the board into their journals and after telling me what their favourite colour was they copied it from a post it note and finished the sentence. We introduced where to start writing (left hand side of the page), capital letters, finger spacing and ending the sentence with a period. They did a great job!

Math - students completed a penguin ten frame worksheet

Gym - Ms. Yustin

French- Mlle. Jessica

UOI - students each got a turn to come up with an action pattern (snap, clap, snap, clap, etc) and the rest of the class had to follow. Then they used snap cubes to make a pattern and the rest of the class had to say what it was.

*Fire Alarm*

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

This email is to inform you that we experienced an unexpected fire alarm this morning in the building. SJA staff did an amazing job evacuating the students safely and in a timely fashion from the building. Students were outside for ten minutes waiting in line while we followed proper protocol to ensure every child was accounted for. At this time, we then made our way over to Meadowvale rinks to have shelter from the cold. Once the fire department gave the go ahead we returned back to the building. There is no need for alarm or concern the building and students are safe and secure.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Mrs. Smith at bsmith@stjudesacademy.com or Mrs. Hocevar at hhocevar@stjudesacademy.com.
